Zella Mae Truman, 93, of Richmond Health and Rehabilitation Complex-Madison, formerly of Owensboro, died Sunday, July 15, 2001 afternoon there.
She was a native of Daviess County, born on May 8, 1908 to the late Henry and Lou Addie Williams. She was a graduate of Daviess County High School, Class of 1924 and of the Owensboro Business College, Class of 1928. She was married to Arthur C. Truman, Sr., July 30, 1928. Mr. Truman who preceded her in death, was a World War II Veteran and a founder and chapter member of the Owensboro Area Museum.
Mrs. Truman spent the first 89 years of her life in Owensboro, where she was a member of The First Baptist Church. She served the church as a church hostess for 17 years, sang in the church choir and played the piano. She was a member of the Owensboro Womans Club and The Owensboro Garden Club. Before moving to Richmond in 1997, she was a resident of Roosevelt House II.
Mrs. Truman is survived by one son, Arthur C. Truman, Jr., (Judy) of Owensboro; one daughter, Nancie Ham (Dick) of Richmond; four grandchildren, Arthur C. Truman III (Lucy) of Columbus, IN, Dan Truman (Judy) of Owensboro, Terry Beth Ham of Shanghai, Peoples Republic of China and Wendy Sue Ham of Jacksonville, Arkansas; four great-grandchildren, Katy and Erin Truman of Columbus, IN, and Sarah and Daniel Truman of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday July 20, 2001 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends at Glenn Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday July 19, 2001 and after 9:00 a.m. Friday.
