Zella Mae King, 82, of Bon Harbor Nursing Home, Owensboro, went home for Christmas on Thursday, December 20, 2007. Zella was born November 5, 1925 to the late Price James and Ora Ryan King in Owensboro. She was a life long resident of Owensboro and retired from the Opportunity Center Workshop where she spent many happy years and was also a member of Peoples Baptist Church for many years. She loved her family, friends, and the staff on the West Wing of Bon Harbor Nursing Home. Zella's favorite expression was, "I love you".
She was preceded in death by her brother, Price James King and sisters, Betty Jean King, and Lorine King Carter.
Survivors include her nephew, Price James King and his wife, Hilda of Apopka, FL, her niece, Nancy Schmeal and her husband, Charles of Owensboro; great-nephew, James Leroy King of Margate, FL, great-nieces, Mitzi Toxey of Apopka, FL, Jamie Schmeal Wellman and Kellie Schmeal, both of Nashville, TN; several great-great nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Richland Cemetery in Livermore, conducted by Rev. Tom Wade. Visitation will be 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Opportunity Center Workshop, 731 Jackson Street, Owensboro, KY 42303 or Special Olympics, Daviess County Area 2, P.O. Box 764, Owensboro, KY 42302.
