Zelda Vaenita Stringer

Zelda V. Stringer, 97, of Owensboro, passed from this world to a better place Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 19, 1917 to the late Arch and Dora Lee Morgan Bivens. She was a life-long member of the former Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and was currently a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. At 97 years old, we had far more years than most, but we are not sure it's ever enough. She made our lives happier, warmer, and more complete than I know how to express. She was a quilter, a homemaker, painter, a cook, a mom, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a great great grandmother, a gardener, an elephant rider, a go cart rider, a scooter rider, a friend, a Christian, and in a nutshell "hanger of the moon". She was the strength and core of our family. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilton D. "Wick" Stringer in 1975, a granddaughter, Angela Frantz, two brothers, Hazel and Loyd "Pete" Bivens, a son-in-law, Bill Frantz, and a great great granddaughter, Eden Palm.

Survivors include two sons, Jim (Louise) Stringer and Danny Stringer and two daughters, Marcella Frantz and Joyce (Randy) Hulsey, all of Owensboro, seven grandchildren, Tammy Henry, Lisa Mourning, and Keith Hulsey, all of Owensboro, Todd Frantz of New Albany, IN, Richard Hulsey of Louisville, Danielle Lowe of Evansville, IN, and Vickie Lawalin of Tell City, IN, 11 great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 23, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Daviess Co. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
