Yvonne L. Sloan

Yvonne L. Sloan, 68, of Owensboro, went home to be with our Lord, December 16, 2016. She was born January 26, 1948 in Owensboro, to the late A.L. and Lucille Northern. Yvonne was a faithful member of Providence United Methodist Church where she served as the church's President of the United Methodist Women. She was a Kentucky Colonel, a hairdresser for 23 years and then was an orthopedic nurse and served 23 years at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where in 1999, she was the recipient of the President's Award. Yvonne enjoyed things like reading and playing the piano and loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry Northern.

Yvonne is survived by her daughters, Leah (Dennis) Kiper, Kelly (Scott) Greer, Shelley (Steve) Newcom; son, Kevin Leach; six grandkids, Andrea Knott, Eric Greer, Matt Greer, Brandon Ward, Whitney Leach and Keaton Newcom; six great-grandkids, Riley, Ian, Gage, Hadley, Piper and Camber; sisters, Sandra (Phillip) Chapman, Joan Isbel; brothers, Ronnie (Gail) Northern, Jerry (Thomas) Northern, and Wendell (Myrna) Thomasson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be noon Monday, December 19, 2016 at Providence United Methodist Church with Bro. Tab Cook officiating. Visitation will be 2:00pm-6:00pm Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and 10:00am Monday, until the time of service at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Providence United Methodist Church or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
