Yvonne Spencer Emmick, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Owensboro to the late Arnold and Stella Spencer.
Yvonne was a graduate of Daviess County High School. She and her husband were the founders of Emmick Oil and Valor Oil where she was a key part of the operation for many years. They also kept a home in Lakeland, Florida and were members of Owensboro Country Club. Mrs. Emmick was a longtime member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and more recently attended Owensboro Christian Church.
She was adventurous and enjoyed traveling, including trips to countries on four continents including an African safari just a few years ago. Vonnie also spent time golfing and playing bridge with friends. She especially enjoyed her time with those from the "Ya-Ya's" group and the "D-Cup Gals".
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Emmick was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Thomas S. Emmick in 2009; a son-in-law, Brett Harcourt; and siblings, Nelda Gillim, Grover and Bill Spencer.
She is survived by a son, Gary Emmick and his wife Lisa of Owensboro; a daughter, Kathy Emmick Fischer and her husband Thomas of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Josh Emmick (Sara), Lauren Emmick, Sam Wilson and Joe Paul Wilson; great-grandchildren, Coady Wilson, Avery Wilson, Kylar Emmick and Rykar Emmick; sisters, Charlotte Ball and Jolene Reynolds, both of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 6 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 until 5:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.
