Yoshua E. Phillips, 27, of Owensboro, Kentucky, died October 13, 2013. He was born in Bellevue, Washington and was a passionate artist. Yosh was a musical prodigy, there was not an instrument that he could not play, he was very smart and creative which showed through his talent of writing and drawing. Very funny and expressive he would intensely stand by his convictions. He had a big heart, a zeal for life and wanted to save the world. The most important things to him were his girls; they were the joy in his life.
Yosh was preceded in death by his father, Dare Phillips.
Survivors include his parents, Marguerite and Edward Matheny; daughters, Debanie Phillips, Shi Phillips, and Kandice Phillips; siblings, Melissa Shawlene Phillips, Zachary Phillips, Sr. and William Robinson all of Owensboro; maternal grandparents, Carol and Louie Cavanah; and nieces and nephews, Tristan Phillips, Sara Phillips, Zachary Phillips, Jr. , Harlie Phillips, Kaitlynn Phillips and Mia Freels.
Services will be 7 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the family care of Marguerite Matheny.
