Winona Hamilton Sublett, 96, of Philpot passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at her home. Born in Henderson County on September 27, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Annie Kohler Hamilton. Mrs. Sublett moved to Daviess County at age 8 and graduated from Whitesville High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Providence United Methodist Church. She was always willing to take on any task, from gardening and sewing all her children's clothes to overhauling the tractor. She enjoyed genealogy and beekeeping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilsie Sublett in 1995; and sons, James Wilsie Sublett in 1936 and Lawrence Clayton Sublett in 1970.
Surviving is a daughter, Peggy Sublett of Philpot; a god-daughter, Kristy Westerfield of Whitesville; and a niece, several cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Revs John Coomer and Dan Haire officiating followed by burial in Providence UMC Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12-8 p.m. on Friday and after 12 noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
