Winnie Bell Atherton

Winnie Bell Atherton, age 78, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away on October 27, 2012 at Wellington Park. She was widely loved and will be missed by many.

Winnie and her husband of sixty years, B.T. Atherton, were members of First Baptist Church for over 45 years where Winnie volunteered in the church kitchen for Wednesday evening dinners and in the nursery for over 20 years. She was a kindhearted and generous person and loved children, reading, and travel.

Winnie is survived by her loving husband as well as their son, Bruce D. Atherton, and his wife Karen of Louisville; their daughter, Sherry Baber, and her husband Gilbert of Owensboro; and their three grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Baber of Owensboro and Emma Atherton of Louisville. Winnie is also survived by her three siblings, Linda Pack of Louisa, KY; James Brown and his wife Kay of Longmont, CO; Nancy Leazenby and her husband Ross of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30th at 10:00AM at Owensboro First Baptist Church and followed by interment at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday, October 29 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM and at Owensboro First Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 30 after 9:00AM.
