Winifred Lenora Posey

Winifred Lenora Posey, 73, of Owensboro died on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Jackson, Louisiana to the late Leonard and Winifred Posey.

Lenora attended LSU before moving to Owensboro in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina. Through the years Lenora owned and operated Raven Realty in Carencro, Louisiana and The Villa Lounge, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She also supervised a Tuesday Morning in Lafayette, Louisiana and supervised Hickory Farms stores in a 3 state region. In recent years, Lenora worked as a nursing assistant in home health care, took classes at Owensboro Technical College and was a Notary Public. She enjoyed clogging and was a member of Acadiana Cloggers in Lafayette.

She also was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Hayden Posey, a son, Creely L. Wood; a sister, Luann Millsaps and a grandson James Woods Jr.

Lenora is survived by sons James Woods (Mary) of Haughton, Louisiana, Ellis Thomas of Denham Springs, Louisiana and a daughter, Angelica Hollier (Mitchell) of Owensboro; James Posey of Owensboro, and Michael and Mitchell Posey of Owensboro; 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; her former husband and best friend, Bobby W. Thomas of Owensboro; sisters, Beulah Watts, Gladys Salazar and Cynthia Joubert, all of Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Third Baptist Church in Owensboro. Pastor Ron Phillips will officiate.
