Wilma Peay

Wilma "Jean" Peay, 73, of Calhoun, was surrounded by family and friends as she made her journey to her heavenly home on June 7th 2013. She was born July 21st 1939 to the late Jasper and Mary Barnett of Owensboro. Jean, as she was affectionately known, loved her family more than anything. Anything that brought the family together made her very happy. She loved camping, fishing, and family cookouts. It has been told that if you left one of her cookouts hungry, it was your own fault.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Donell H. Peay Sr.

Jean is survived by her five children; Donell H. Peay Jr. (Ginger) of Belews Creek, NC; Debra Russell (Joseph) of Calhoun; Diana Rodgers (Kenny) of Fordsville; Doris Nafrady (John) of Owensboro and David Peay (Sherry) of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren; Kristy, Brandi, Josh, Jonathan, Amanda, KJ, Nikki, Stephen, Corey, Rusty, Ben, Austin, Timmy, Keith, and Chris. 9 great grandchildren; Dakota, Phoenix, Jacob, Natalie, Cadin, Shelby, Macey, Cade, and Brayden; 4 sisters; Doris Payne (Robert) of Maceo; Joan Reynolds (Paul) of Lewisport; Nelda Frazier (Stan) of Echols, KY, and Donna Stewart ( Charles) of New Orleans, LA



Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Major Charles Stewart, of the Salvation Army, officiating. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
