Wilma Reed Payne

Wilma Reed Payne, 86, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Daviess County on June 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Dora Terry Payne; was a homemaker and had worked at G.E. and W.T Grants; was a member of Sts Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Mrs. Payne was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved caring for her family, cooking, gardening, and crafts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Payne in 2006 and a brother, Charles Reed.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Joseph G. Payne; a daughter, Sandra (Bobby) Quinn of Owensboro; a son, Richard (Martha) Payne of Owensboro; a daughter-in-law, Jewell Payne of Owensboro; grandchildren, Sherri (Davey) Walden, Stephanie (Greg) Lane, Stacy Johnson, Scott (Kim) Quinn, Pat (Michelle) Payne, and David (Kara) Payne; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Reed of Owensboro; a sister, Vivian (Donald) Fischer of Owensboro; and a sister-in-law, Mary Reed of Owensboro.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at Sts Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with Father Carl McCarthy officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday and after 8:30 a.m. on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where prayers will be said at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
