Willis Harold Barnett

Willis Harold (P. I.) Barnett, 94, of 727 Stone Street, Owensboro, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. He was born in Hancock Co., and was retired from farming. He was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World and enjoyed gardening. At one time, he was known as one of the top tobacco producers in Daviess Co. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Maggie May Ray Barnett in October of 1973, his 2nd wife, Clara Mae Payne Barnett on December 14, 2003, a son, Harold Barnett, and 2 daughters, Dorothy Johnson, and Ruth Chavis who died in 2001.
Surviving are 2 sons and their wives, Bill & Nelda Barnett of Owensboro, and Clyde & Linda Barnett of New Albany, In., 4 daughters and their husbands, Carolyn & Jerry Hallam of Thruston, Ruby & Louis Didion of Sun City, Az., Betty & Frank Berkley of Gastonia, N.C., and Marie Embry of Brooklyn, Ky., a brother, Emmetteen (Jake) Barnett of Whitesville, 25 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 28, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the South Hampton Baptist Church Cemetery in Daviess Co. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 319 W. 10th.
