William John Woodward

April 30, 1908 — February 14, 2004

William R. "Bill" Wood, 85, of Owensboro passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Hermitage. Born in Scottsville, KY on September 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Lewis and Vera Clark Wood; was retired from Western Kentucky Gas after 30 years of service; and was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Wood was a devoted husband to his wife, Sharon, for 55 years and a loving father to his three children and his grandchildren. Over the years he unselfishly devoted many hours of his time to various civic organizations

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Chapman Wood in 2001, and a brother, Kenneth E. Wood in 2003.

Surviving is a daughter, Susan ( Joe) Ranburger of Owensboro, sons, Stephen Roger (Susan) Wood of Paducah and Rick Wood of Owensboro; grandchildren, Deric Cook of Walkertown, NC, Leigh Anne Terry of Owensboro, Joseph Ranburger, Jr of Owensboro, Sarah Wood of Louisville, Laura Wood of New York, NY, and Holley Wooley of Lovelaceville, KY; great-grandchildren, Vivian Terry, Jack Terry, Davis Ranburger Kaylee Ranburger, Clara Cook, Proctor Cook, and Tyler Wooley; brothers, Wallace Wood of Greenville and Follis Wood of Hardin, TX; a sister, Patricia Mathis of Waynesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday February 2, 2015 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Private burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon on Monday.
