William Bill Willis, 76, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2006 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. William was born in Greenville, KY on January 25, 1930, to the late Jimmie and Eva Lena Willis. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1951-1955 and retired from General Motors in Pontiac, MI where he worked for 37 years.
The Bible defines a Father as one who shows leadership in his household by emphasizing Gods word and worship in the family, and a husband as one who loves his wife, just as Christ also loved the church; William exemplified these characteristics. He was a lifelong Baptist who was a member of Harvest Baptist Temple in Owensboro, as well as Central Baptist Church in Ocala, FL. He will always be remembered as being a strong Christian influence to his wife, children, grandchildren, and to those he met. Mr. Willis enjoyed researching the Civil War, his family genealogy, and studying the Bible.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to the caring staff at OMHS, the many visitors, and especially, for the prayers on our behalf.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 55 years, Peggy Hadden Willis; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzie and Larry Horner of Owensboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Mary Beth Willis of Owensboro; brothers, Clyde Willis, Dean Willis, and Benny Willis; and four grandchildren, Andy Horner, Nate Horner, Clay Willis, and Jenny Beth Willis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Dellis Joe Willis
