William Thomas Turner

William Thomas Turner, Jr., 76, of Roswell, GA, formerly of Owensboro, died Friday, January 28, 2005 at HRC Manor Care in Marietta, GA. A native of Bastrop, LA, Mr. Turner was a son of the late William T. and Annie Aden Turner, a graduate of Louisiana Tech with a BS in chemical engineering, and held Masters degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology in chemical engineering and gas technology. Mr. Turner began his 39-year career at Texas Gas Transmission Corporation as a staff engineer, became vice-president of engineering, and retired as senior vice-president of development. A member of the Dunwoody United Methodist Church, he was formerly a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and its Open Door Sunday school class, and of the Investigators Club. He was preceded in death by his wives, Sara Kathryn Miller Turner and Colleen Street Turner, his son Jeffrey Stephen Turner, and his granddaughter, Rachel Swanton.

Survivors include a son, Chris Turner of Dunwoody, GA, two daughters, Felicia Turner of Dunwoody, GA and Kathy Swanton of Longmont, CO, nine grandchildren, Jessica, Julia, and Christine Turner of Altadena, CA, Trevor Jackson and Mercedes Jackson of Hollywood, CA, Ben, Margaret, and Charlie Turner of Dunwoody, GA, Sara Swanton of Longmont, CO, and his brother, Grey Turner, of Longmont, CO.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mt. Vernon Rd., Dunwoody, GA 30338 for the UMCOR Tsunami Relief Fund.
