William Harold Tinius

November 25, 1908 — October 27, 2003

William Harold Tinius, 94, of 3017 Quincy Ct., died peacefully Monday at the Hillcrest Healthcare. Mr. Tinius was born and raised in Philpot, KY the son of late William Orland and Amy Bailey Tinius. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he had served as usher, Sunday School teacher, and deacon. He served in the United States Army during World War II taking part in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign and Phillipine Liberation. After the war, he purchased and ran the family dairy farm. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Camp, Helen Ray, and Louise Sublett.

He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtle Potts Tinius to whom he had been married for almost 56 years. He was devoted to his family and has two children and their spouses, Larry and Sandy Tinius of Owensboro, and Kim and Cheryle Stephens of Philpot; six grandchildren, Brian, Stacey and Jeff Tinius, Mike Swope, Kristie McCarty, and Shana Johnson; three great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; a brother, James Marvin (Jim) Tinius of Owensboro; a sister, Mrs. L.W. (Doris) Simpson of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Funeral services are 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Glenn Funeral Home with the Reverend Darrell Overstreet of Memphis, TN officiating. Private burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday and 4-7 P.M. Wednesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
