William J. Thompson

William J. "Bill" Thompson, 80, of Springwood Dr., Owensboro, passed away on Monday May 4, 2009 at his home. He was born February 3, 1929 in Daviess Co., KY to the late William Goebel and Myra Victoria Payne Thompson. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was a Ky. Colonel. He was retired after 35 years from Texas Gas as a draftsman and was involved in farming. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing bridge, and spending winters in Florida. He was also preceded in death by his wife Rose Mary Thompson on July 2, 2008, three sons, David Wayne, Chris, and Franky Thompson, a great grandchild, Colten Burden, two brothers, Henry and Gerald Thompson, and a sister, Sister Marie Thompson.

Surviving are two daughters, Lynda Edwards and husband Danny of Elba, KY and Darlene May and husband Keith of Panther, two sons, Ben Thompson and wife Paulette of Falls Church, VA and Tommy Thompson and wife Donna of Reo, IN, 14 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two brothers, Gene Thompson and wife June of Owensboro and Joe Ben Thompson and wife Brenda of Lexington, and a sister, Anna Lee Clark and husband Sid of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 8, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home with prayers at 7:00 P.M. Visitation on Friday will begin at 8:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
