William "Bill" Bishop Shain, 86, of Utica, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, November 26, 2015.
He was born March 10, 1929 in Butler County to the late Carson and Mary Shain.
Bill served in the U. S. Navy from 1947-1950.
Mr. Shain was a loyal and loving, responsible husband and father who doted on his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking , gardening and building projects. He especially enjoyed helping others, was always willing and dependable, generous with his time and energy. He was kind to his older family members, especially to his parents, Carson and Mary, and in-laws, Lonnie and Alta Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Gillaspie; and a brother, James Shain.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Maxine Brooks Shain; 2 children, Debra Shain Westheimer and Billy Shain; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Zona Bandy; 2 brothers, Andrew and Alton Shain; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Ann Brooks and Vera Hanson who lovingly cared for bill in his time of need.
The service will be at 10 AM Monday, November 30 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Monday from 9 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Two Rivers Buddy Ball, 2626 W. Parrish, Box #341, Owensboro, KY 42301.
