William "Cotton" A. Schrecker, age 73, of Owensboro passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on September 28, 1939 in Daviess County to the late Herman and Lottie Schrecker.
Cotton was the co-owner of Daviess County Auto Sales where he was known by many as a likeable conversationalist. Before he and his son Don started Daviess County Auto Sales he worked as a truck driver for Field's Packing Company and A&H Truck Lines. He was a gifted, multitalented man who enjoyed working whether it be auto repair, home construction or anything he set his mind to.
He is also preceded in death by four brothers, Herman, George, Paul and Stewart Schrecker and one sister, Maurine Elliott.
Surviving is his wife, Mary E. Schrecker; two sons, Jerry Schrecker ( Dorothy) of North Carolina and Donald Schrecker ( Kathy) of Owensboro; two daughters, Cindy McCain ( Scott) of Owensboro and Judy Druen of Owensboro; three brothers, William B. Schrecker ( Bessie) of Owensboro, Raymond Schrecker ( Ethel) of Philpot, James Schrecker ( Doris) of Owensboro; four sisters, Katherine Karn of Pleasant Ridge, Margie Hayden of Owensboro, Marie Hester of Owensboro and Lucille Norris of Virginia; six grandchildren, Randy Bell ( Jennifer), Lauren Graves ( Russell), Matthew Schrecker, Daniel Schrecker, Tara Druen and Carter McCain; two step-grandchildren, Raymond Rodriguez ( Robyn) and Chris Rodriguez ( Jenny); two great grandchildren, Avery Davis and Lucy Bell and four step great grandchildren; Jacob, Alanna, Breanna and Kayla Rodriguez .
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Tony Jones as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Blessed Mother Catholic Church (Prayer Chapel Fund) or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
