William H. Schartung

William H. Schartung, 65, of Lewisport, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born April 23, 1942 to the late John Albert and Mary Cecilia Payne Schartung in Daviess County. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 28 years of service, was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church and worked at Rural King part time. He loved to travel, do woodworking, water gardening and going to casinos. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Schartung.

Survivors include his wife, best friend and love of his life for 18 years, Janet Schartung; his daughters, Missy Alvarado and her husband, Johnny of USA, Ramstein, Germany, Marjorie Early and her husband, Steve of Owensboro; his sons, Brandon Schartung of Owensboro, Chris Schartung and his wife, Mary of Owensboro, Todd Schartung of Louisville; grandchildren, Jeremy, Drew, Reid, Ben, Katie and Mattie Schartung, Josh Early and Tyler Alvarado; also surviving are, Kevin Medcalf and his wife, Sandra of Whitesville; daughters, Stacy Holcomb, and Angela Taylor and her husband, Scott, all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Kelly and Tara Medcalf, Kody and Kaylynn Holcomb, Kelsey and Katie Taylor; five brothers, Thomas Schartung and his wife, Joan, James Schartung and his wife, Dorothy, John Schartung, Bernard Schartung and his wife, Janet, and David Schartung; five sisters, Joan Millay, Dorothy Quinn, Mary Jo Haynes and her husband, Bob, Barbara Hoskins and her husband, Bob, Patricia Lucht and her husband, Larry; a sister-in-law, Ava Schartung.

Services will be 10:00 AM Friday at St. Williams Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, with prayers at 7:00 PM at the Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation Friday will be after 8:30 AM at the funeral home.
