William C. "Bill" Reynolds, 81, of Owensboro, died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Wellington Parc.
He was born on April 21, 1933 to the late John and Golda Reynolds. Bill grew up in the Seven Hills neighborhood. He played football for Owensboro High School and received the Most Valuable Player award in 1949.
Bill was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Reserves and was called into active duty in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis. He earned his engineering degree at the University of Kentucky and worked as a consulting engineer at Johnson, Depp, and Quisenberry before serving as Director of Public Works and City Engineer for the city of Owensboro for 20 years.
Bill enjoyed fishing, working outdoors, and meeting with friends for coffee. He was well known and liked around Owensboro. Bill smiled and spoke to everyone warmly with comments that were spontaneous, upbeat, and funny. All children were drawn to him and "Papaw" will be truly missed by his grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother James M. (Marcia) Reynolds.
Survivors include a twin brother, Charles H. Reynolds; brother, John D. (Virginia) Reynolds; son, Brad (Susan) Reynolds; daughter Lisa Borja of Las Vegas, Nevada; and grandchildren, Noah Reynolds, Jonah Reynolds, Daniel Reynolds, Rhett Knott, and Will Greer.
Services will be at 2pm on Monday June 23, 2014 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 12-2pm on Monday at the funeral home.
