William (Bill) H. Parrish, Jr., 79, of 2736 Claiborne Run, Owensboro, Kentucky, formerly of Chesapeake, Virginia and Edenton, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at his home. He was born on December 29, 1929 in Edenton, NC, to the late William H. and Grace Parrish. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk, VA. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, who enjoyed following the Washington Redskins, loved American History and country music.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Marguerite Wilson Parrish; a son, Bill Parrish, a daughter-in-law, Vicky Parrish; a grandson, Joe Parrish, and a granddaughter, Amber Parrish, all of Owensboro. Also surviving are seven siblings, all from Eastern North Carolina and Virginia: Dorothy Harris, Mildred Boyce, Frances Moore, Mabel Butt, Carolyn Forehand, Marie Baker, and Herbert Wilson.
Memorial Services will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY on Friday, February 13, 2009, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the home of Carl and Carolyn Forehand, 1305 Macedonia Road, Edenton, NC, on Monday, February 16, 2009, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with a graveside service and internment being held at Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, NC at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Edenton, NC. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Macedonia Baptist Church Quilting Fund (in support of Camp for Courageous Kids), 4839 Millers Mill Road, Owensboro, KY 42303. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
