William C. Myles, Jr., 89, recently of St. Louis, MO, died June 30, 2014. Bill was born on November 3, 1924, in Owensboro, KY.
Bill, a long time resident of Campbellsville, KY, served his nation in WWII; his church, Bethel First Presbyterian, as an elder, and his adopted hometown in many ways. He was a retired professor of Education at Campbellsville University; a Life Master bridge player and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International. He enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, reading, gardening, fishing, good food and good friends alongside his beloved Mary.
He was preceded in death by his parents William C.Myles, Sr. and Mary F. Myles, both of Owensboro.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Mary Simpson Myles; their children: William Patrick (Suzan) of Ft. Worth, TX; Margaret Wynn (Mark) Stolzer of St. Louis, MO; Julia Anne (Thomas) Bakewell of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Brandon Myles (Allysa) of Atlanta GA, Eric Myles (Sarah) of Ft. Hood, TX, Sarah Myles of Ft. Worth, TX, Stephen Myles (Ashley) of Ft. Worth, TX, Jennifer Stolzer, Olivia Stolzer, Catherine Bakewell, and Myles Bakewell, all of St. Louis, MO; and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Kenneth Myles of Carmel, IN; a sister, Mary Katherine Thompson of Owensboro; and extended family members, Bob Gray of Tiffin, OH and Sue Gray Larson of Akron, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for 2:00 pm, August 16, 2014 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
