William S. Mayfield

William S. Billy Mayfield, 77, of 4386 Highway 142, Philpot, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007 at his home. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. on September 29, 1929 and was a member of Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church. He had been the owner and operator for 25 years of William S. Mayfield Building Contractors and also was a partner in an oil leasing company. He loved to spend time on his farm in Whitesville. He also had a passion for hunting and fishing. Billy and Sandy enjoyed the buying and selling of antiques through their shop at home. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Audie Mae Tucker Mayfield on February 7, 1962 and his father, R. G. Mayfield in 1984.

Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Sandra Hood Mayfield, his mother, Rose Lee Mayfield Howard of Owensboro, three sons, Horace & wife Pam Mayfield of Owensboro, Jeff Mayfield of Philpot, and William & wife Nicole Mayfield of Plainfield, Ill., six daughters, Julia & husband Norman Anderson, Donna & husband Steve Thomson, and Becky & husband Tim Pedley, all of Owensboro, Karen & husband Neil Dant of Orange Park, Fla., Dee Ann Brashear of Louisville, and Shelley Asberry of Princeton, In., 28 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, four brothers, Eugene (Nora) Mayfield of Whitesville, Charles (Ruth Ann) Mayfield and Anthony (Regina) Mayfield, all of Ensor, J. C. (Jeanetta) Mayfield of Owensboro, and four sisters, Mary Ann (Bob) West of Brandenburg, Ky., Margaret (Bobby) Hamilton of Ensor, Robina (Daniel) Blair of Texas, and Rosina Sims of Georgia.

Services will be 12:00 Noon Thursday, March 1, at Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and 9:00 -11:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
