William H.''Bill'' Marksberry, 88, of Owensboro, passed July 6, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born November 30, 1925 in Spencer County, Indiana to the late Luther Hensley Marksberry and Annie Francis Blythe Marksberry. The family moved to Daviess County in 1926.
He lived in the Habit community and was a retired dairy farmer, realtor, auctioneer, and appraiser. He was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church for over 50 years and served as church moderator for 29 years. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Masonic Lodge (7-A) and served as District Deputy and Grand Master in 1955-56. He was the owner or co-owner of several real estate companies during his business career. He was a member of the Owensboro Board of Realtors and was named Realtor of the Year in 1980. He was listed in the first publication of Who's Who in Real Estate in the United States. He was a licensed pilot, served in the Civil Air Patrol, and for ten years, served on the Airport Board for the Owensboro-Daviess Co. Regional Airport. He was the U. S. Postmaster for Philpot, Kentucky for several years. He also served on various boards related to farming. He loved golfing, hunting quail and turkey, and traveling, but most of all, he loved his God, his church, and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Louise Bowman Marksberry; one sister, Anna Blythe Howard of Calhoun, his four children and their spouses: Nancy Collins (Paul), Steve Marksberry (Kim), Janie Marksberry (Carl Ringwall), and David Marksberry (Tammy), 10 grandchildren, Becky Collins Fuller (Andy), Jonathan Collins (Kristin), Maggie Williams (Joel), Sgt. Michael Marksberry (Katie), Hannah Stephen (Nick), Abbie Roden, John Ringwall (Amber), Julianne Ringwall, Taylor Hoffer (Melissa), and Andrea Logsdon (Nathan), and nine great grandchildren.
Services will be 12 Noon Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Glenn Funeral Home & Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
