William T. Lynch, Sr., 86, of 1408 Frederica St, died Friday, January 14, 2005 at his home. Born in Hebbardsville, KY on March 26, 1918 to the late John William and Virginia Dame Lynch, Mr. Lynch was a 1936 graduate of Owensboro High School and was an Army SSgt in World War II. He managed a grocery store for 25 years and retired from Davis Food Distributors in 1981. He was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1932 and was ordained a deacon in 1958. He was a member of the executive board of the Daviess McLean Baptist Association and had served as Training Union director, a Sunday School director, and Chairman of the Deacons. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. His greatest joys were family, yard work, hunting, camping, KWC and UK basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 65 years, Hellen Dorris Lynch, on January 1, 2003 and a daughter, Sheila Ann Lynch in 1941.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Linda Lynch; a daughter, Helen Lynch Norris ; grandchildren, David and Lora Lynch, Ashley Lynch, and Nathan Norris; great-grandchildren; Mary Claire and Olivia J. Lynch of whom live in Owensboro. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Esther H. Keifner of Owensboro; three nieces, Dona Sprouse and Deb Parton of Sieverville, TN and Tudi Fielder of Nashville; and several cousins and many close friends.
Funeral services are 11 A.M. Monday, January 17, 2005 at Eaton Memorial Baptist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-6 P.M. Sunday, January 16 at Glenn Funeral Home and after 9 A.M. Monday at Eaton Memorial Baptist Church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Eaton Memorial Baptist Church Growth Fund, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, or to the KWC All American Club.
