William Eugene Libs

William E. Libs, 86, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, September 4, 2006 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born September 1, 1920, Mr. Libs was the son of the late Francis M. and Hattie Agnes Alvey Libs. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and owned and operated Gunn Grocery on the corner of 7th and Maple for several years. Mr. Libs was an Army veteran of World War II; member of the Moose Lodge, AMVETS and American Legion; and was an avid OCHS girls softball and Kentucky Wesleyan Basketball fan.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Francis M. Libs, Jr. and a sister, Virginia Libs Lane.

Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Wanda Gunn Libs; sons and daughters-in-law, Stirman and Sue Libs of Owensboro and Wallace and Sally Libs of Lewisburg, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Harriett Sissy and Terry Weber of Owensboro; grandchildren, Scott Libs of Lewisburg, and Melissa Weber, Lori Libs, Casey Libs, and Rebecca Libs all of Owensboro; great-grandchild, Jacob Libs; nephews, Mike (and Betty) Libs and William Francis Libs of Owensboro and Phillip ( and Karylu) Libs of Lexington; and nieces, Liz (and John) Froehlich, Patricia (and David) Jones, and Rebecca Everly all of Owensboro.

Services are 11 A.M. Thursday, September 7, 2006 at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father John Meredith officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 P.M. Wednesday and 9 to 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home where prayers will be at 6 P.M. Wednesday.
