William E. “Bill” Lanham, 97 of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Wellington Parc. He was born April 4, 1928 in Daviess County to the late William E. and Mary Ursula Knott Lanham. Bill was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and retired as a truck driver for Baskin-Robbins and also had been a deck hand and cook prior to that. He also was member of St. Vincent DePaul which was very special to him. Bill was a very adventurous person and a big jokester. He was a very godly man and loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them for rides in the dune buggy. Bill and Dorothy loved traveling and camping together, also loved the monthly family gatherings and enjoyed clockmaking. Bill had many pets over the year some unusual ones including an owl, a pig, a fox, and a bear which he had while in the military. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War having been with the 82nd Airborne.
Bill was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Lanham in 2012, a great grandson, Christopher Lanham, and three brothers and a sister.
Surviving are his children, sons David Lanham (Mary) and Dale Lanham (Terri) and daughters Belinda Moody (Roger), Becky Chapman (Steve), and Paula Wilson (Dennis), all of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be Noon Friday, October 10, at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM Thursday with prayers at 6 PM and from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
