William Russell Jones

William Russell "Russ" Jones, 54, of Woodstock, Georgia died on October 10, 2013 at his home. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Russ attended the University of Kentucky before becoming employed by IBM where he worked as a marketing specialist. He retired from IBM after 32 years of dedicated service. Russ was affectionately known to his coworkers and associates as Preacher Jones, partly due to his passion for spreading the message of IBM.

He was a longtime member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock. Russ was a very sociable person and an awesome storyteller with a contagious laugh and a remarkably good memory for details. He was a loyal U.K. Basketball fan and an avid Georgia Bulldog Football fan. Russ also enjoyed horse racing, golf and tennis.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Dean and Bettye Deane (Grant) Jones and in-laws, James Robert and Lillie Prater Goetz.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kim Goetz Jones of Woodstock, GA; a daughter, Elizabeth Jones Beaudry (Jeremie) of Roswell, GA; sons, William Russell Jones II and Nicholas Goetz Jones, both of Woodstock, GA; sisters, Suzanne Lee (Larry) of Owensboro, Elaine Mills (Mike) of Owensboro, Becky Mitchell (Marty) of Stanley and Teela Watts (Stan) of Versaillles, KY; a brother, Dean Jones (Tina) of Owensboro; sisters-in-law, Karen Marie Goetz of Owensboro and Dorothy Goetz Gary (Jim) of Louisville; brother-in-law, James Edward Goetz (Cindy) of Owensboro; nieces, Niki Moss, Katie Sims, Amanda Dikici, Ginny Bradford, Mollie Riddle, Maggie Grant, Sarah Vega, Maggie Morgan, Laura Watson, Rachel Jones, Mary Hackney, Beth Merchant, Megan Johnson, Jane Watts, Jennifer Gary and Lillie Goetz; nephews, Harry Watts, Andrew Mitchell, Jody Mitchell, Ben Gary, J.R. Goetz and Warren Goetz; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral service will be at 12:05 on Saturday, October 19 at St. Stephen Cathedral. Fr. Edward Bradley will officiate and burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 PM (with prayers at 6 PM) and on Saturday after 10 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

There will also be a Memorial Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock, GA on January 28, 2014.
