William H. Hinton, Sr., 80, of Owensboro died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. Mr. Hinton was born April 3, 1936 in Mattingly, KY to the late Vessie William Hinton and Lorena Keenan Hinton. Mr. Hinton was a Navy veteran of the Korean War serving for four active years and seven years in the reserves and then retired from Whirlpool in Evansville. He loved going to the Health Park, hunting and fishing, UK basketball, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Thelma Payne Hinton; sons, William H. "Billy" Hinton Jr. of North Vernon, Indiana, Bradley Hinton and wife Donna of Owensboro, Mark Hinton and wife Angie also of Owensboro; daughters, Cindy Ann Wyatt of Owensboro, Vanessa Rhodes and husband Kirby of Hawesville, Susan Lebold and husband Jim of Glenville; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; brother, Michael Hinton of Owensboro, sister, Shirley Pate of Irvington; uncle, Larry Keenan and wife Bernadine of Balltown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The service will be 1:00 PM Friday, May 27 at St. Lawrence in Knottsville with Father John Okoro conducting the funeral mass. Visitation will be Thursday 3:00 PM from 6:00 PM with prayers at 5:30 PM and Friday from 11:00 till 12:00 noon at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Church Cemetery with full military honors.
