William “Carl” Hardesty Jr., 77, of Lewisport, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025, at his home under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky and his loving family by his side. The Daviess County native was born November 27, 1947, to the late William Carl Hardesty Sr. and Teresa Evelyn Gertisen Hardesty. Carl graduated from Owensboro High School with the class of 1965 and received his associate’s degree from the Owensboro Business College. He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict as a Sea-Bee in the U.S. Navy. Carl was a self-employed painter for 49 years and owner of Pro Painting Contractors, Inc. He was a member of the Pool League and the youngest member of the Birmingham Roller Pigeon Club being inducted into their Hall of Fame. Everyone wanted one of the pigeons Carl raised. He also started the Daviess County Soccer League and coached DCHS JV soccer, Little League, and T-Ball. Carl was an avid UK fan and enjoyed playing golf, boating, and cards, especially Texas Hold’em. Carl was a devoted husband and loved being a father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Carl also was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Ralph.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Pam Hardesty; son, Steve Hardesty and wife, Abby of Hawesville, daughters, Heather Hardesty Coffin of Brooklyn, NY and Cara Hardesty Money of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, Chelsea, Stephen, Kirsten, Kennedy, Kaili, Uriah, and Ivan; one great granddaughter, Faye; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm Monday, July 21 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory ending with military honors at 6:00 pm. At the request of the family, there will be no funeral service but encouraged all visitors to wear patriotic clothing.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the VFW, Post 696.
