William Dexter Goodwin, 44, of Owensboro transitioned from this life on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born December 18, 1970 in Daviess County, son of Rose Goodwin. He was a member of Tenth Street Missionary Baptist Church and was formerly employed by Old Hickory and Ernie Davis and Sons.
He graduated from Owensboro High School and was a proud member of the 1986 OHS State Football Championship team. Dexter lived a life full of life and laughter and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Birdie Mae Goodwin; his grandfather, Remus Goodwin; his sister, Stacy Fountain and an aunt, Tobitha Faye Chatmon.
Left to celebrate his life are his Mother, Rose Goodwin; his fianc", Anita Johnson; his children, Yasmeen Goodwin, Dexteria Goodwin, Wileasia Goodwin, Donta Johnson(step-son), Dextra Goodwin, Major Goodwin, Jasmine Goodwin and Tyra Goodwin all of Owensboro; one granddaughter, Alaya Goodwin; one sister, Donna Goodwin; like a brother, Jerry Douglas Goodwin, Jr. two best friends, Deidra Tinsley and Hulla Therkildsen and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Tenth Street Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Willie Grubbs officiating. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday and from 12-1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
