William "Eddie" Payne

William “Eddie” Payne, 73, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, August 17, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 7, 1951, to the late Ernest Lucien “Doug” and Maude Frances Payne. Eddie attended St. Pius X Catholic Church. He held family time as his highest priority, always seeking ways to bring his loved ones together. His passion for creating lasting memories was evident in every gathering, as he often brought his culinary skills to the forefront through his love of barbequing. Additionally, Eddie found great solace and enjoyment in fishing.

In addition to his parents, Eddie is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alexis Dockery; sisters, Alice Morris and Mary Ruth Payne; sisters-in-law, Anna Payne and Carrol Payne; and brother-in-law, Harold Payne.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Helen Payne; children, Heather Dockery and Brandon Payne (Dana); siblings, Connie Payne, John Payne, Elsie Galloway (Bernard), Joe Payne (Joyce), Carl Payne, Sheila Mattingly (Bill) and Tony Payne (Carolyn); grandchildren, Breanna Dockery, Alyssa Dockery, Brody Payne and Katelyn Payne; and great-granddaughter, Violette Dockery.

The funeral service for Eddie will be 12 PM Wednesday, August 20, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9 AM until time of service at the church.
