Mr. William Dickens, 73, of 6631 Thoreau Village, Masonville, died Saturday, October 1, 2005, at his home. He was born August 10, 1932 to the late Hardin and Daisy Vanover Dickens in Daviess County. He was a member of Masonville Baptist Church, an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and was retired after 47 years from Green River Electric. He enjoyed boating at Rough River and spending time with and cooking for his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nila Dickens in May 12, 2003, and by a twin brother, Merle Wilson, who was killed in Viet Nam in 1967.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Montgomery and her husband, Gary of Owensboro, Debbie Abney and her husband, Barry of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Amber, Tyler and Adam Montgomery, Heath and Matt Abney; three great-grandchildren; a companion, Olga Kelley of Owensboro; three brothers and their wives, Gerald (Shirley) Wilson of Houston, TX, David (Ann) Wilson of Owensboro, Jack (Linda) Wilson of Calhoun.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 AM Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home with entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and after 9:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be presented by VFW Post 696 at the Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonville Baptist Church, 6601 Hwy 231, Utica, KY, 42376, or Owensboro Christian Church Bldg. Fund, 2818 New Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY, 42303.
