William A. Bud Davis, a man of dedication, loyalty, and ability, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at the age of 92 at Wellington Parc. Born in Owensboro, a son of the late Callie Clint and Mae Montgomery Davis, Mr. Davis began working at what was then the Ideal Pure Milk Company while still in school and retired 50 years later as superintendent of construction for Baskin-Robbins in 14 states. He was attending Transylvania University at the outbreak of World War II and spent five years serving with the United States Army with the Signal Corps, Army Air Corps, and Corps of Engineers, including time in Japan. Mr. Davis was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters Jessie Parker, Helen Mack and his twin Winnie Alice Davis at the age of 6.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 71 years, Bernice Carden Davis, and several nieces and nephews, including the Rev. Dale Carden and Barry Carden, both of Owensboro, and Dwight Carden of St. Louis.
Services are at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, officiated by the Rev. Dale Carden and the Rev. James Savage, at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of Woodlawn United Methodist Church.
