William M. "Bill" Coons

William M. "Bill" Coons, 88 of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, surrounded by his family while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born November 11, 1928 in Yelvington, Kentucky, to the late John W. and Annie Stinnett Coons. Bill was a Master Sgt in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired in 1972 where he was last station at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. He also retired as an Electrician and enjoyed traveling, dancing, tool shopping, spending time with his family, and watching CNN. Bill was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Louise Coons, daughter, Lisa Coons, his stepchildren, Recketta Hendrick and husband Eddie, William N. Ladd, Jr. and wife Janet, Zo Tichenor and husband Rusty, Shae Rye and husband Aaron, and Ladeana Roberson, sister Marie Bell, brothers Donald Coons and wife Phyllis and Truett Coons.
Bill was affectionately known as "Poppa" by all his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and grandpuppy Timon.

Services will be at 2pm Saturday November 19th at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Mark Poiles officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Cemetery with full Military Honors provided.

Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday and Noon-2pm on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
