William E. (Bill) Calhoun of Owensboro, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Carmel Home. He was a native of Owensboro, born to the late John C. and Mary Aline (Thompson) Calhoun. Bill retired as a teacher for the Owensboro City Schools System after 30 years, and then was a purchasing agent for Owensboro Medical Health System for 12 years. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. He also enjoyed traveling, U.K. Basketball, gardening, and collected M&M memoriabilia. He especially enjoyed his great-grandchild, Cartiye, ( with whom he shared a birth date), going to his ballgames and the park.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Juanita Faye (Hornback) Calhoun, sons, John P. (Debbie) Calhoun of Owensboro, David Calhoun of Evansville, IN., Jeffery Calhoun of Owensboro, his grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany, Rebekkah, and David, step-grandchildren, Danielle Ogle and Jessica Jones, a brother, John M. (Raymunda) Calhoun, a cousin, Noel (Jean) Maddox, both of Owensboro, sisters-in-law, Jessica and Marcella Hornback, and Paulette ( Morris) Carter all of Owensboro, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Immaculate Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 6 p.m., and after 8 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
