William Royce "Billy" Burns, Sr., 68, of Owensboro, passed away at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Billy was born in Butler County on July 23, 1949 to the late Woodrow Burns and Frances Burns Abney. Billy worked and retired from Swedish Match and was a member of Local Union 1319. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. Billy also took time to visit flea markets as often as he could. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Royce Burns Jr.
Billy is survived by sons, Royce Wayne Burns (Patricia), Jason Burns, Jeremy Burns (April) and Branden Burns; grandchildren, Amanda Burns, Kaley Burns, Kendall Burns, Hannah Burns, Rebekah Burns, Noah Burns, Jeremiah Burns; great grandson, Preston King; sisters, Diane Thompson (Jim), Pam Johnson (Bobby), Ginger Miller (Jim), Perry Abney (Lisa) and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews along with several cousins.
Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2018 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
