William D. "Billy" Blandford Sr., 86, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mr. Blandford was born May 8, 1930 in St. Joseph, Kentucky to the late James A. and Mary Verna Merimee Blandford. Graduating from Saint Francis Academy, he was employed at Pinkerton Tobacco from where he retired. He loved coin collecting, the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting and going to the farm where bush hogging was his favorite activity. The last four years, Mr. Blandford has been a resident of the Carmel Home.
Mr. Blandford also was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Joyce Bernadette Blandford in 1994; son, William D. Blandford Jr. in 1990; great grandson, Grayson James Blandford; brothers, Robert, Douglas and Joseph Blandford.
Survivors include his sons, Tim Blandford Sr. (Penny), Tony Blandford (Debbie), Ron Blandford (Elaine); daughter, Rhonda Tipton (Buddy) all of Owensboro; brothers, Jerry Blandford (Sue), Bennie Blandford (Claudine); sister, June Johnson (Bill); 13 grandchildren; 22 ½ great grandchildren; long-time friend, Tina Wolken; a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the Sisters and staff of the Carmel Home.
The service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 4 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Emmanuel Udoh officiating. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM with prayers at 7:00 PM and Tuesday from 8:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
