Dr. William A. Bailey, 59, of 2014 Fieldcrest Drive, Owensboro, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at his home. Dr. Bailey, who practiced general dentistry for 33 years in Owensboro, was a graduate of Staunton Military Academy, Staunton, VA, Kentucky Wesleyan College, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta, and the University of Louisville College of Dentistry, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity. He was a member of the Green River Dental Association, which he served as treasurer, secretary, vice-president, and president, a member of and delegate to the Kentucky Dental Association, which he served as Chairman of the Constitution and By-laws Committee and the Ethics Committee and on the Ad Hoc Committee to rewrite the Dental Status of Kentucky, and the American Dental Association. He was a founding board member of Health Resources of Indiana, served as a board member of Delta Dental-Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and received the Dr. Donald P. Newsom Award for Excellence in Organized Dentistry. He was a member of First Christian Church in Owensboro.

Dr. Bailey was a soccer official, serving as a US Soccer Federation referee, a NCAA referee, a high school soccer referee, the 4th District Soccer referee administrator for Kentucky, the referee assignor for the Owensboro Soccer Board for 10 years, and in 1995 and 1996 was recognized as the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Boys Referee of the Year. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a motivational speaker for various network marketing associations. Recently, MBC Direct of Houston, TX named its new technology center The Bailey Technology Center and established the annual Outstanding Marketing Associate Award in his name.

Dr. Bailey was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Theodore J. Bailey.

His wife of 34 years, Yvonne Graves Bailey, two daughters and son-in-law, Cassandra and James Petty, of Bowling Green and Andrea Bailey of Owensboro, two grandchildren, Ashlynn Danielle Petty and Jackson Bailey Petty of Bowling Green, his mother, Lucille Sosh Bailey of Owensboro, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Beverly and Norman Greenwald of Bowie, MD, his mother-in-law, Juanita Denham of Bowling Green, two aunts, and several cousins survive him

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 2 until 8 PM Thursday and after 8:30 a.m. Friday. Graveside service and burial will be at 3 p.m. CST Friday at Grider Memorial Cemetery, Burkesville, KY
