William Howard Allgood, Sr., 84, of Owensboro, died Monday, October 6, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health Systems. He was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church, had retired from Green Coal after 37 years, and was an avid University of Kentucky fan. Mr. Allgood, enjoyed traveling to the Smokey Mountains, watching purple martins and hummingbirds, repaired lawn motors during his retirement, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Glover and Florence Wahl Allgood, and a sister, Mary Ruth Augenstein.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Ima Jean Allgood; four children, son, William Allgood, Jr. and his wife Heather, daughter, Luella Bell, son, David E. Jones, Jr. and his wife Lori all of Owensboro, and a daughter, Bonnie Coomes of Cincinnati; a brother, Roger Allgood of Panther; a sister, Josephine Vanover of Owensboro; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, October 9, at 2 p.m. at Crosspointe Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Glenn Funeral Home from 12 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Crosspointe Baptist Church Building Fund.
