Willa Mae Payne Roberts

Willa Mae Roberts, 83, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012, at the Carmel Home. Willa was born August 26, 1929 to the late Lucian Arthur and Lucien Maxcentia Johnson Payne in Roseville, MI. She was a homemaker and member of St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church. She worked at General Electric tube plant for several years and was secretary for Harry Roberts Plumbing and Heating until retirement. She lived for her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed running road races with her children and grandchildren, exercising at the HealthPark with her friends and traveling with Golden Partners.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Geneva Pate and Rosina Clark; brothers, Jerry Payne, her twin, W.A. Payne, Joe Payne, Robert Payne, and Francis Edward Payne.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harry, a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Ron Turner, two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Jennifer Roberts, Dean and Paula Roberts, seven grandchildren, Bethanie Rachelle Roberts, of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jacob Dean Roberts, Benjamin Tyler Jewell, Taylor Laine Roberts, Emily Ann Roberts, Harry Chase Roberts, all of Owensboro, Ben and Ashley Turner and their children, Landon Parks, Annalee Rebecca Turner, Lesley Marie Turner, and Will Thomas Turner, all of Hendersonville, TN; her brother, Roland (Sue) Payne of Calhoun; sisters, Mary Jane Young, Mary Alice (Louis) Weise, of Owensboro and Gretta VanBussum of Knottsville, KY; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Stevie and Russ Sturgeon, of Owensboro.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church with Fr(s). Richard Meredith and Julian Ibemere officiating with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. on Monday.
