Wilfred L. Gorrell, 80, of Maceo died Thursday, September 26, 2002, in Owensboro. SThe Sacramento native graduated from Western Kentucky University. He retired as dean of students at Kentucky Wesleyan College and from General Electric after 27 years. He was a former resident host at Field House, former Outstanding Young Man of Alabama and an active member of Thurston United Methodist Church. A son, David Gorrell, died in 1984.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jessie Cassady Gorrell; three sons, alan Louis Gorrell of Bristol, Tenn., Jeffery Gorrell of Fairfax, Va., and Brian Gorrell of Lexington; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Warren Gorrell of Paris.
Services are at 10 a.m. on Ocotber 5, 2002 at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.
