Wilda C. Matthis, 70, of Owensboro passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born on February 5, 1946 to the late John Wendell Calhoun and Martine Warren Calhoun of St. Joseph and graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy. Wilda was an outgoing and kind person who loved serving others. She thoroughly enjoyed reading her bible, UK basketball, and cooking (she was a great cook!), but most of all she loved being with her grandchildren. Wilda had worked at Field Packing Company for almost 28 years.
Beside her parents, Mrs. Matthis was also preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Warren Calhoun in 2014.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Cary Matthis and wife Shannon, Chad Matthis and wife Tina both of Owensboro; daughter, Robin Foster and husband Jon of Louisville; six grandchildren, Nick Matthis, Gavin Matthis, Emma Johnson, Jordan Matthis, Lauryn Foster, Ally Foster; sisters, Judy Ward and husband Ralph, Brenda England and husband Tommy both of Calhoun, Kaye Winfield of Owensboro; numerous nieces and nephews.
The service will be 10:00 am Friday, February 3 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Jerry Ford officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 and Friday after 9:00 AM.
