Wilbur C. "Trae" Wright, III, 30, died of natural causes on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at his residence in Denver, CO. He was born on June 10, 1982 in Daviess Co., KY. He was a Wounded Warrior diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Severe Traumatic Brain Injury, and a seizure disorder incurred while serving our country in the U. S. Army/Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Trae is survived by his loving and caring parents, Wilbur and Mary Foster Wright of Masonville, a loyal and faithful brother, Adam and sister-in-law Kristie McCarty Wright of Owensboro, and a special cousin and Brother in Arms, Daniel Duncan of Copperas Cove, TX. Additional survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Trae was of the Catholic faith.

A natural leader, Trae graduated in 2000 from Owensboro Catholic High School where he served as President of his graduating class. In September of 2001, Trae enlisted in the Army immediately following the attacks on 9-11, answering his Nation's call. After graduating as a Cavalry Scout from the Armored Reconnaissance School at Fort Knox, KY, he was assigned to 1-10 Cavalry, 4th Infantry Division of Fort Hood, TX.

Trae quickly distinguished himself as a leader among his peers and moved up quickly to the rank of Specialist. In March of 2003, Trae deployed to Iraq and fought in combat against Iraq's Republican Guard during the invasion. In December of that same year, Trae's unit played a key role in the capture of Saddam Hussein and continued to battle his loyalist and anti-American insurgents for three more months.

During Trae's time of service, he was awarded the Army Accommodation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, and was a Qualified Expert Marksman and Grenadier.

Trae will be affectionately remembered for his quick-witted humor, infectious laugh, and his ability to quote movie lines and song lyrics. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and a Notre Dame enthusiast. He continued to "unofficially" serve the military and community through his compassionate care to numerous homeless veterans and others in need.leaving an imprint on all he met.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 22, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 8:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
