Wilbur "Gene" Rose, 75, of Owensboro, passed away January 21, 2016 under the care of Hospice of W. Kentucky. Mr. Rose was born January 13, 1941 in Charleston, MO to the late Morris VanBuren Rose and Ellen Tate Rose. He was an extremely devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Rose was also a Deacon Emeritus at Macedonia Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Rose was also preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma South, Ruth Daerda, and Dorothy Hudson.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Linda King Rose; son, Michael Rose and his wife April of Owensboro; daughter, Sandra Norton of Marquette, MI; grandsons, Zane, Carter, and Mason Rose; granddaughters, Miranda, Laura, Mary Norton, and Ansley Rose; sister, Katherine Watkins; brothers, Vernon "Sonny" Rose and Larry Rose.
The service will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 29 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Dan Wigton officiating. Visitation will be from to 3:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday and from 12:00 Friday till time of service. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration or The Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund.
