Wilbur Murph Murphy, 76, of 3020 Reid Road, Owensboro, died suddenly Friday, March 10, 2006, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born October 7, 1929 to the late Argyle and Susie Jennett Murphy in Warren County. He retired as a truck driver for Sun Windows after 43 years of service. He was a member and an usher at First Baptist Church for 27 years.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Buster Murphy and a sister, Sue Frances Green.
Survivors include his wife of 55 1/2 years, Mary Hurter Murphy; his daughters, Sharon Ambrose and her husband, Doug of Owensboro, Debbie Horton and her husband, Tom of Maceo, Becki Barr and her husband, Billy of Philpot; his son, Larry Murphy of Prattsville, AL; grandchildren, Eric Horton, Heather Hayden, Angel Nichols, Natalie Ambrose, Emilee Owens, Cody Barr, Dee Murphy and Tonja Wingfield; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, John Murphy of Bowling Green; sisters, Jean Anderson and Chloie Davis, both of Owensboro and June Morris of Whitesville.
Services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Monday and after 10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 230 JR Miller Blvd, Owensboro, KY 42303.
