Wilbur Thomas Davis, 87, of Utica died Sunday, April 7, 2002 at Fordsville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Ohio County on May 30, 1914 the son of Ben and Maude Raines Davis. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Aundra Huff Davis, in 1977 and a son, Robert Joseph Davis, in 1992.
Mr. Davis retired from Colonial Bakery after 33 years and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Lexington, Enterprise and Saratoga aircraft carriers and enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Mae Davis; two sons, Tommy Gene Davis of Evansville and Benjamin Lewis Davis of Murfreesboro, TN; a daughter, Marilyn D. Lyons of Tinley Park, IL; two stepsons, James Norris of Deanfield and Herschel Norris of Whitesville; two stepdaughters, Alice Kelley of Ontario, CA and Ruby Rice of Deanfield; 10 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and several cousins.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Dale Quaiye. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002 and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
