Wilbur Allen Conway

Wilbur Allen Conway, 68, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015. He was born September 24, 1947 in Daviess Co. to the late Marvin and Virginia Herrell Conway. He was a retired letter carrier with the U. S. Postal Service and a member of Masonville United Methodist Church. Wilbur was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War with the "Big Red One" and the 2nd Armored Division. He was very proud of his time that he served his country and loved spending time with all his veteran friends. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #696, the American Legion Post #9, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #4. He also was a member of the Owensboro Masonic Lodge #130. Wilbur always loved hunting and observing wildlife with his best friend of 65 years, Sandy Fentress and he had also enjoyed drag racing.
One of his favorite things to do was spending time and hanging with his "Peeps". He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles H. "Dude" Conway.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Agatha Basham Conway, his son, Nathan Conway and wife Sara of Whitesville, William (Bretnea) Thomas of Masonville, who was like a son to him for many years, a grandson, Douglas Powers, three brothers, Ernest E. Conway of Owensboro, Larry (Brenda) Conway of Hartselle, AL, and Marvin M. "Buck" Conway of Yuma, AZ, a sister, Charlotte Kamuf of Owensboro, brothers-in-law, Buford Gailen (Shirley) Basham of Lewisport and Gary (Wanda) Basham of Philpot, a sister-in-law, Judith (Jerry) Bryant of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 13, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 8:30 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. A Veterans Final Salute service will be 5:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
