Wendell "Doug" Sloan Sr., 80, of Owensboro went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 21, 2012.
He was born to the late Orville and Maude Martin Sloan on October 12, 1931.
Doug Served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was employed as an electrician for Green River Steel for 32 years.
His interests included golfing, watching UK basketball and old western movies.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Margie Miles Sloan and two sisters; Martha "Faye" Lively and Jane Winkler.
Survivors include his three children; Kimberly Gaw Estes (Jim), Patricia "Tricia" Hamilton (Kenny) and Wendell Sloan Jr. (Melissa) six grandchildren Nathan and Natasha Gaw, Kevin (Jessica) and Ashley Hamilton, Logan and Jordan Sloan, a sister Margie Rose and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday in the chapel of the Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Father John Meredith officiating with burial to follow in the Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday February 23, 2012 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and from noon until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
